Products combining intelligence + emergency storage

Emergency readiness is second nature in Japan. But the solution isn't.

A basic backpack, hidden away under beds, in closets, by the door. Invisible — when it needs to be immediate.

We don't forget emergencies. We forget the kit. Stored away. Out of sight. Out of mind. But when it hits, every second counts.

"This isn't a product problem. It's a behaviour problem. If you can't see it, you won't reach for it."

Mamoru Emergency Hub
The Device

A first-of-its-kind intelligent emergency hub.

Mamoru is not just a redesign of a disaster kit. It is a new product category — combining real-time hazard intelligence with physical emergency supplies in a single object designed to live proudly in any home, hotel, or office.

Real-Time Hazard Alerts
Direct JMA connection for EEW, tsunami, flood, landslide, tornado, volcano and heatwave warnings across all 5 severity levels.
Intelligent Ambient Light
Functions as a beautiful lamp in daily life — instantly shifting to emergency colour-coded alerts when hazards are detected.
Emergency Supply Storage
Top and bottom compartments hold a 72-hour emergency kit — always visible, always within reach, never hidden away.
Family Beacon Mode
When networks fail, Mamoru broadcasts GPS location via LoRa mesh radio — helping separated families regroup without internet or mobile signal.
Multilingual — EN / JP / ZH / KO
Designed for Japan's 37 million annual foreign visitors and 3.3 million foreign residents who are chronically underserved by existing systems.
Design Philosophy

Rooted in wabi-sabi. Built for emergencies.

Crafted from recycled bamboo composites and sustainable materials, Mamoru embraces simplicity and minimalism — sitting harmoniously in any room as a refined home object that earns its place in plain sight.

01
Quiet by nature

Mamoru’s design language is inspired by Japanese wabi-sabi, embracing natural imperfection, honest materials, and understated presence. It feels calm, considered, and made to belong in the room.

02
Ready when it matters

The same object that provides gentle ambient light in the evening shifts instantly into emergency mode when danger is detected. Colour-coded LED alerts, a loud speaker, and touchscreen guidance help people respond quickly and clearly.

03
Portable by design

Retractable carry straps on the reverse allow the full device, including intelligence, supplies, and beacon capability, to be lifted and moved within seconds when evacuation begins.

The Team

Safety products should be intelligent, beautiful, and intuitive enough to live in plain sight.

Chris, Charles, and Shan form a diverse team spanning product design, technology, marketing, sustainability, and business strategy — united by a shared mission to reinvent how people prepare for emergencies.
